KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Great Eastern Takaful Bhd (GETB), through the mySalam scheme, has announced the launch of the Kahoot! Bijak Wang Challenge, aiming to set a world record for the largest financial literacy quiz ever held in Malaysia.
Head of mySalam, Syuhaib Ithnin said the challenge, targeting 10,000 participants aged 13 and above, will take place at Queensbay Mall, Penang, from Nov 14 to 16, as part of the Celik Kewangan Carnival, organised by the Financial Education Network (FEN) and Bank Negara Malaysia.
“We believe that engaging and innovative methods of financial education are crucial, and through gamification, participants will be tested on key financial topics such as risk management, financial planning, and the need for additional protection,” he said in a statement.
In addition, 300 food baskets worth RM12,000 will be donated to underprivileged families through a collaboration between the Malaysian Takaful Association and mySalam.
Books worth RM10,000 donated by the Financial Services Library, Bank Negara Malaysia will also be distributed to promote reading and financial literacy among students," the statement added.
The announcement was made recently during the third edition of the 3K Carnival at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Pontian, officiated by Johor State Environment Committee chairman and Yong Peng assemblyman, Ling Tian Soon.
The carnival, designed to engage the B40 community, featured a variety of activities, including the Financial Squid Game, free health screenings, Rahmah sales, children’s financial literacy sessions, lucky draws, and community programmes, including singing competition, e-sports, and rugby matches.
Since its launch in 2019, until Aug 31 this year, mySalam has supported 1.77 million beneficiaries with RM1.27 billion in claims paid out.
The deadline for submitting 2024 eligibility claims has been extended until Dec 2025 to ensure more Malaysians benefit from the scheme.
The 3K Carnival was made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of Finance, Great Eastern Takaful, Malaysian Takaful Association, FEN, Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK), Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN), myKawan, PeKa B40, Pontian District Health Office and the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK Bandar Pontian.
