Cyberview Demo Day Highlights Malaysia’s Rising Startups

CYBERJAYA, July 10 (Bernama) -- Ten Malaysian startups pitched their products to investors at the Cyberview Living Lab Accelerator (CLLA) Programme Cohort 20 Demo Day today, presenting locally developed solutions across various sectors.

Organised by Cyberview Sdn Bhd, the CLLA programme aims to help early-stage startups with market-ready products test, refine, and prepare their offerings for commercial rollout.

Cyberview chairman Datuk Romli Ishak said Malaysia needs to build confidence in its talent and technology to avoid remaining just a consumer nation.

“We must believe in our technology and products so we can move away from being just a consumer country that uses what others create. If we continue down that path, we will have nothing to be proud of and will never truly uplift our nation,” he said in his opening remarks at the Demo Day here.

He said that as Malaysia moves deeper into the digital era, from smart cities to Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance, the country must stop relying heavily on foreign technology.

“This dependency makes us vulnerable to geopolitical shifts, supply chain disruptions and external pricing pressures, like what we are witnessing now under the US tariffs. When we start creating, supporting and adopting Malaysian technology, we can transform ourselves into an innovation hub and retain more value within the country,” he added.

Romli said Cyberview envisions Cyberjaya not just as Malaysia’s tech hub but as a global hub where innovators from around the world can develop and test solutions in collaboration with local talent.

The event spotlighted startups addressing national priorities such as sustainable energy, health technology, smart automation and digital inclusion, aligning with Malaysia’s push toward a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.

ADA Biotech Sdn Bhd, which produces biodegradable products from agricultural waste, was named judges’ favourite startup, beating nine other startups for the RM5,000 grand prize.

During the programme, the startups secured a cumulative RM3.8 million in investments from various funding partners.

Among the programme’s partners are Cradle, MDEC, Leave a Nest, Nexea, MRANTI, MDV, MTDC, MBAN, pitchIN, Ata Plus Malaysia, 1337 Ventures, Petronas, Vynn Capital, The Hive Southeast Asia, MVCA and Maxis.

CLLA Cohort 20 began with 24 early-stage startups in phase 1 in February, narrowing to 17 in Phase 2 before selecting 10 to pitch at the Demo Day finale.
