SHAH ALAM, July 10 (Bernama) -- The Public Works Department (JKR) has conducted a site visit and taken proactive steps to address issues concerning the condition of drains and the accumulation of domestic waste along Jalan Bukit Kemuning in Klang, near here.

JKR, in a statement, said that the department, through the State JKR and the Klang JKR offices, has coordinated efforts to resolve the issue with relevant agencies such as the Klang Land District Office, Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM).

“JKR Malaysia has taken note and viewed seriously the video uploaded by Kota Kemuning Assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan via his Facebook account on July 8.

“The location of the drain in the video is along Jalan Bukit Kemuning, namely Jalan Persekutuan FT190, where maintenance works are under the supervision of the concessionaire, Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd,” it said.

It also said that JKR visited the location with Preakas yesterday, and briefed him on the works that have been and will be carried out, including initiatives with related agencies to overcome the issues raised.

According to JKR, among the challenges facing the department in implementing drain maintenance along the FT190 route is that most premises have access roads that are built without complying with the stipulated specifications.

Meanwhile, the pile of garbage as shown in the video is caused by the dumping of domestic waste on the roadside.

JKR said it has allocated RM4.5 million for the maintenance of the FT190 route and other related works on FT190 (Section 14.00 - Section 15.20),

The allocation also covers partial reconstruction works and other related works on FT190 (Section 2.00 - Section 3.00), as well as to improve safety aspects, paint road lines and other related works on FT190 (Section 9.00 - Section 11.50), it said.

It advises road users to always be careful, obey the signs and instructions placed by the authorities from time to time, and cooperate in maintaining the country's public infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Preakas in his latest post on Facebook thanked the JKR for its swift action in addressing complaints raised for the safety of the constituents in the Kota Kemuning constituency and road users in general.
