JPA's MAPPA XX Run In Kuching Attracts 2,500 Participants

KUCHING, July 6 (Bernama) -- A total of 2,500 participants participated in the 20th Larian Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA XX) run organised by the Public Service Department (JPA) through INTAN Sarawak Regional Campus at Kuching South City Council Square (MBKS) here today.

The department said that Kuching is the third stop for the MAPPA XX after Kuantan (Pahang) and Batu Kawan (Penang).

“The participation of more than 2,500 runners includes civil servants and the community from all corners of Sarawak.

"The event began at 6.30 am with the official flag-off by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian for three running categories, namely 3km, 5km and 10km," JPA said in the statement.

It added that participating in the event were Dr Sim and top management of the Federal Civil Service and Sarawak Civil Service for the 3km Walkathon as a gesture of support and leadership example from the government top management.

Besides the running event, various activities such as booth exhibitions involving government agencies were also organised, as well as a Rahmah Sale.

Among the exhibitors involved were the Pensions Division, Public Service Department; Public Services Commission, Sarawak Health Department, Royal Malaysia Police, Social Welfare Department, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.
