KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- SynVista Energy Holdings Pte Ltd (SynVista Energy), a Singapore-headquartered global leader in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered energy storage systems, is investing US$50 million (RM210 million) to establish its first energy storage manufacturing facility in Selangor.
SynVista Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd executive director Peter Phang said the facility is expected to commence production in the fourth quarter of 2025 (4Q 2025).
"The planning is to start our production in 4Q, but it is very much dependent on the government approvals. There are some regulations that we need to go through. The facility, to be located in Kuala Selangor, will have an annual output capacity of five gigawatt-hours (GWh) and will support both the domestic and international markets, such as Japan and the United States," he told reporters during the SynVista Energy Storage Full Lifecycle Summit here today.
Also present was Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, who serves as the honorary chairman of SynVista Energy Malaysia - a role that reflects the company’s long-term vision and commitment to contributing meaningfully to Malaysia’s energy future.
Phang said Malaysia’s strategic location, strong government support for the renewable energy sector, and well-established supply chain made it an ideal location for setting up the energy storage facility. He added that the establishment of the facility will create around 200 jobs, comprising engineers and technicians, and production workers.
On the current global economic uncertainties, particularly the imposition of US tariffs, Phang said SynVista Energy has also been affected by the situation. However, it has plans in place to mitigate the impact. "We do have big orders from America, and currently, the US tariff has slowed down a lot of orders. So, they are put on hold. But we try to expand to other regions so that we can have other markets that we work on," he added.
SynVista Energy chairman Owen Chen, during the opening speech, said the company has taken a transformative leap in its global journey by launching the energy storage manufacturing facility in Selangor. He said the move reflects its commitment to a long-term, deeply rooted local partner.
"Through our localised production, rapid delivery, and strengthened partnerships, we aim to empower the regional energy storage value chain and bolster Southeast Asia's clean energy future. Looking ahead, we are excited to deepen our collaborations with Malaysian stakeholders to exchange knowledge, build capabilities, and co-create an innovative, high quality energy storage industry that fuels national energy aspirations," he said.
