PUTRAJAYA, June 30 (Bernama) -- The unwaning popularity of ‘Alasanmu’, even more than three decades after its release, has inspired Exists to breathe new life into their classic hit with the launch of ‘Alasanmu’ 2025 version.
Featuring cinematic musical arrangements and stronger vocals, the refreshed version of the evergreen song was fully reworked by the popular 90s band to more honestly convey the disappointments they experienced throughout their journey as artistes.
Vocalist Ezad Lazim said the decision to revamp the song came after observing the good response to ‘Alasanmu’, also known as ‘Mencari Alasan’, on digital streaming platforms.
“Actually, this song was chosen following discussions with Sony Music. According to statistics, this song has the highest streaming numbers on YouTube and Spotify,” he said at a press conference yesterday to announce the launch of ‘Alasanmu’ 2025 version, as well as the Exists Premium Live @ PJ concert to be held on Oct 4 at JioSpace in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Ezad, whose full name is Mohd Rohaizad Mohd Lazim, said plans to rerecord the song had begun as early as 2022 but were delayed due to various post-pandemic constraints.

“I think ‘Alasanmu’ is a song that remains relevant and people still want to hear it. So there’s no harm in offering something different with a fresher arrangement,” he said.
Exists guitarist Along said ‘Alasanmu’ deserved a new version as it was one of the songs that introduced the band to fans in Indonesia.
“It was our first single to become a hit in Indonesia, so that’s why Sony suggested rereleasing the song to satisfy fans in Indonesia who have long asked why there hasn’t been a new release. So, we came up with a new version for ‘Alasanmu’. God willing, there’s more to come,” he said.
On their Oct 4 concert, the band’s keyboardist Ajai said the group members are working together closely to ensure the success of their show.

“When we get together for our training sessions, we hear out each other. Every decision about the concert is made unanimously,” he said.
Ajai also shared the band’s hope to reconnect with its former vocalist Mamat who previously underwent addiction rehabilitation in Pahang.
“His health is much better now. He has made huge improvements in a short time. Even though he entered rehab, what matters most is his own will. As his brothers, we always pray that whatever we achieve, we want him to achieve the same,” he said.
Tickets to the Exists Premium Live @ PJ concert can be purchased via www.jiotix.asia, with prices ranging from RM368 to RM588.
