KANGAR, May 29 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is expanding and strengthening its collaboration network in Indonesia to support the internationalisation agenda of higher education, in line with Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair for 2025.
Its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli said the university is strengthening its international collaboration through visits to six higher education institutions in Bali, Medan, Jakarta, and North Sumatra.
The six institutions visited were the Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB); Universitas Udayana (UNUD); Universitas Trisakti (USAKTI); Universitas Deztron Indonesia (UDI); Universitas Al-Azhar Medan (UNAZ) and Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara (UISU).
“At PNB and UDI, we exchanged Letters of Intent (LoI), while at UNUD, UISU, and UNAZ, we held Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies. Additionally, at UNAZ, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed for a student discount scheme between UniMAP and UNAZ,” he said.
“Visiting USAKTI felt like reconnecting with old friends, as the MoU had already been signed back in 2021,” he said in a statement today.
Zaliman expressed confidence that the four-day visit to Indonesia, which began on May 25, would open a new chapter in academic exchange, foster collaborative research initiatives, and offer improved educational opportunities for students in both Malaysia and Indonesia.
“This stands as proof of UniMAP’s commitment to forging strong international academic ties and contributing to the advancement of knowledge and talent development in the region,” he said.
