KUCHING, May 28 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak government has spent RM27.7 billion to implement 1,387 projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), according to the state’s Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He said the amount represented 69 per cent of the RM37.98 billion that had been allocated, while the implemented projects comprised 987 physical and 400 non-physical projects, comprising grants, contributions, investments, programmes and events.
“Out of the 987 physical projects, 303 or 31 per cent had been completed while 684 are ongoing,” he said when winding up his speech for his ministry at the Sarawak state legislative assembly sitting here today.
On the rural transformation projects (RTP), he said 13,366 projects worth RM2.06 billion had been approved, with 56 per cent completed, while under Projek Rakyat, where the state received a RM3.16 billion allocation, a total of 351 out of 735 projects had been completed.
He said Sarawak received RM5.3 billion from the federal government under the Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) of 12MP, with 86 per cent of the funds having been spent as of the end of 2024. “Under RP5, RM4.3 billion has been allocated for 1,174 projects, of which only 18 per cent have been completed so far,” he added.
