JOHOR BAHRU, May 25 (Bernama) – The MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 Johor held at Toppen Shopping Centre here concluded today, recording over 130,000 visitors throughout its three-day run.
Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) Deputy Secretary-General (Management), Abdullah Hasan said the figure exceeded the earlier target of 25,000, with an overwhelming turnout especially on Saturday and today (Sunday).
He explained that the moderately scaled PMR Johor also achieved its objectives by serving as a two-way communication platform that not only informed the public about government achievements and services, but also provided space for citizens to share their views and feedback directly with government agencies.
“With the organisation of PMR, the people are able to witness first-hand the improvements that have been made and understand how they can benefit from the various initiatives offered,” he said when met by reporters on the final day of the programme.
Earlier, the PMR Johor Secretariat reported that the total number of visitors over the three-day period was 136,395.
This edition of PMR 2025 Johor was led by KBS as the organising ministry, in collaboration with the Johor State Secretary’s Office as host, and was part of the efforts of the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) under the Prime Minister’s Department to bring the government to the people.
With the theme “Belia MADANI: Yakin Boleh!” , the event aligned with the aspirations of the MADANI Government and fulfilled the goals of youth development policy.
“This time, we tailored the programme to the aspirations of young people, offering a variety of content that is not only informative but also provides opportunities for youth to actively participate in various self-development initiatives and programmes,” Abdullah said.
Among the offerings were exhibitions and service counters by government agencies, career opportunities, educational and training information, and various entrepreneurship initiatives targeted at the youth.
“For example, we understand that many youths are seeking job or training opportunities. Here, they can engage directly with relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Higher Education and those handling TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training).
“We also provided a platform for obtaining information on funding and financing, such as the Sports Matching Grant, Community Sports Fund, entrepreneurship support – including in agriculture, business, and technology sectors like AI,” he added.
Notably, PMR 2025 Johor was held concurrently with the State-level National Youth Day celebration, making it a dual-function event that amplified the voice and potential of young people.
As such, various activities related to sports, volunteerism, and character development tailored to current youth interests were organised, including fitness events, community sports, and gotong-royong (communal work) programmes.
Johor was the second location for this year’s PMR roadshow after Sabah (May 9–11). The series will continue in Lumut, Perak; Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu; Kota Lama, Kelantan; Nilai, Negeri Sembilan; Baling, Kedah; Jasin, Melaka; and Bintulu, Sarawak.
PMR has now become a strategic platform that unites the Federal Government, State Governments, Ministries, government agencies, and government-linked companies (GLCs) in delivering information, opportunities, and services directly to the people.
