ISTANBUL, May 22 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Tottenham Hotspur clinched the UEFA Europa League title after edging Manchester United 1-0 in the final at San Mames Stadium on Wednesday, capping a historic season with a European trophy.

According to Anadolu Ajansi (AA), the only goal of the match came in the 42nd minute, when Brennan Johnson found the net to give the North London club a lead they held until the final whistle.

Manchester United pressed hard for an equaliser in the second half, with chances falling to Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund and Luke Shaw.

The closest opportunity came during stoppage time, when Shaw’s point-blank header was denied by a superb save from Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

UEFA technical observers praised Tottenham’s composure and defensive resilience, citing Micky Van de Ven’s goal-line clearance in the 68th minute as a pivotal moment.

The match was officiated by German referee Felix Zwayer, with assistance from Robert Kempter and Christian Dietz.

Tensions ran high throughout the final, with seven yellow cards shown -- including bookings for United’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma.

Tottenham's starting eleven featured Vicario in goal, with Richarlison and Dominic Solanke leading the attack. Manchester United lined up with Andre Onana, Maguire, Fernandes and Hojlund.

The victory completes a remarkable season for Tottenham, who had already secured the English Premier League title earlier in the campaign -- sealing a historic domestic and European double.
