KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- Ras Al Khaimah and the city of Miami, Florida, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by United Arab Emirates (UAE) Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi.
The agreement was inked by Senior Advisor to Sheikh Saud, Mohammed Hassan Omran Alshamsi, and the Mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez.
In a statement, Sheikh Saud said the agreement marked a new chapter in collaboration between Ras Al Khaimah and Miami and further reaffirmed the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between the UAE and the United States (US).
“By encouraging greater collaboration and exchange, we open new pathways for innovation, investment and cultural dialogue.
“We look forward to building a dynamic partnership that reflects our shared values and ambitious visions for the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Suarez said the agreement marked an exciting milestone in building deeper ties between Ras Al Khaimah and one of the US’s leading cities.
Under the MoU, both parties aim to foster cooperation in key areas such as urban planning, public safety, business development, tourism, Smart City technology, innovation, start-ups and sustainable development, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Discussions during the meeting also touched on enhancing economic, trade and investment linkages, including the presence of US companies already operating in Ras Al Khaimah, such as Hilton, Guardian Glass and Caresoft Global.
