TAWAU, May 10 (Bernama) – The MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 in Sabah, held at Tawau Municipal Council Square, continues to draw crowds, with the National Registration Department's (JPN) Mekar Programme and health services being the main attractions.

JPN Sabah Mekar Division assistant officer Zulkhairi Abdul Karim reported that over 200 people had utilised their mobile bus services yesterday.

“The main service offered is MyKad replacement. As of this afternoon, 50 replacement cards were processed. Our mobile bus takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and applicants receive their MyKad on the spot. We also receive MyKad applications for 12-year-olds.

“We also offer services such as issuance of birth and death certificates, and advisory services on late registration of MyKad and birth certificates,” he told Bernama.

Tawau Health Clinic supervisor, Assistant Medical Officer Japulin@Reizon Lagung, said 2,000 visitors had undergone free health screenings by midday, with 200 referred for treatment of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.

“This evening, we will also begin screenings for HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and hepatitis. With one day left of PMR, we also encourage women to undergo Pap smear screenings,” he said.

Tawau Dental Unit's Dr Amir Faris Ishak said their mobile clinic had treated 130 dental patients as of this morning, which offered free check-ups, fluoride treatments and oral health advice from 9 am to 6 pm daily.

Meanwhile, Corporate Officer of the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) under the Prime Minister’s Department, Anna Maria Mazlan, said that as of yesterday, 2,500 visitors had stopped by the ICU booth at the people’s wellbeing pavilion for information on various government aid programmes.

“We are also holding an exhibition on the MADANI Community Wellbeing Programme (SejaTi MADANI). We have enquiry counters where visitors can check their eligibility for government aid. We also provide quizzes and prizes,” she said.

One visitor, Asmira Lamide, 40, from Kampung Blok 31, said she took the opportunity to get free dental check-ups and treatment for her three children.

“The services here are faster. At the health clinic, you usually have to wait a long time for dental treatment... at private dental clinics, it’s expensive. This PMR programme is great – many services are provided for free,” she said.

Another visitor, Yunos Badik, 45, from Kampung Saddani, said he appreciated checking unclaimed money with the Accountant General's Department.

“It’s good to have this PMR programme where the public can access services directly from agencies brought in from Kuala Lumpur...I also brought my two children to PMR to expose and broaden their knowledge through science programmes by the National Science Centre,” he added.
