Energy Commission Announces Successful Bidders For NewGen25 Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Bidding for the NewGen25 tender programme has been concluded, according to the Energy Commission (EC).

In a statement today, the EC said it launched the NewGen25 tender programme in May 2025, the first competitive bidding for thermal power plant held since 2012.

The successful bidders for Project Category 1 include Prai Power Sdn Bhd, which is awarded the power plant project with a capacity of 350 megawatts (MW); GB3 Sdn Bhd (429 MW); Segari Energy Ventures Sdn Bhd (1,303 MW); and Stesen Janakuasa Gelugor (310 MW).

Other bidders for the same category are Stesen Janakuasa Putrajaya (249MW), Stesen Janakuasa Tuanku Ja’afar (PD1) (703MW), Panglima Power Sdn Bhd (700MW), Kuala Langat Power Sdn Bhd (675MW), and Pengerang Power Sdn Bhd - additional capacity (150MW).

For Category 2 projects, the EC said the successful bidder is the consortium of TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd and Aurora Power Generation Sdn Bhd for a new 1,400MW combined cycle power plant in Paka, Terengganu.

The letter of notification on technical and commercial terms has been issued to all the successful bidders.

“The EC would like to thank all the participants in NewGen25 for their commitment and interest in the programme,” it said.
