AEON Bank Enhances Customers’ Digital Banking Experience Through Advanced Shielding Technology

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- AEON Bank, Malaysia’s first Islamic digital bank has enhanced its security features with the introduction of the Mobile Security Platform (MSP), an advanced shielding technology designed to protect its mobile banking application.

In a statement today, AEON Bank said MSP provides continuous monitoring for potential threats and malware, taking proactive measures to safeguard customer data and ensure the integrity of its digital banking services.

Its chief executive officer, Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz said customer security remains the bank’s top priority as a fully digital institution.

“Protecting our customers is AEON Bank’s foremost priority as a fully digital bank. We want our customers to use our app with confidence and peace of mind," she said.

The bank clarified if a device was detected to be compromised - whether due to jailbreaking, rooting, library modification, runtime tampering, and any application modification from the original factory setting that bypasses security restrictions — the user will be notified and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled.

The statement said the security measure is implemented to prevent data theft, security breaches, and risk of unauthorised access.

According to the statement, MSP does not collect, process, or store any personal information from customers’ devices.

Instead, it employs a multi-layered approach that ensures threat detection and notification, where customers will receive an in-app alert if their device is detected as compromised, resulting in temporary access restrictions.

Customers can restore access by removing the detected security threats or adjusting device settings, with the option to reset their device to factory settings after backing up data, the statement read.

Once the issue is resolved, they can relaunch or reinstall the AEON Bank app to resume banking services securely.
