Penang, Johor, Selangor, Sarawak And KL Dominates Malaysia's Exports In November - DOSM
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- Penang, Johor, Selangor, Sarawak, and Kuala Lumpur dominated Malaysia’s exports, accounting for 83.8 per cent of the total in November 2024, said the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin in the Export-Import Statistics by State November 2024 report published by the DoSM today said exports, valued at RM126.6 billion in November 2024, increased by RM5.0 billion or 4.1 per cent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Penang remained the top exporter with a 36.4 per cent share, followed by Johor (18.4 per cent), Selangor (17.3 per cent), Sarawak (7.9 per cent) and Kuala Lumpur (3.8 per cent).
He said the increase in exports was attributed to higher exports in most states, including Pulau Pinang (+RM10.7 billion), Perak (+RM373.5 million), Labuan (+RM258.8 million), Selangor (+RM46.8 million), Melaka (+RM18.0 million), and Perlis (+RM3.6 million).
“However, exports decreased in Kuala Lumpur by RM2.0 billion, Johor (-RM1.9 billion), Kedah (-RM1.0 billion), Sabah (-RM390.2 million), Terengganu (-RM353.7 million), Pahang (-RM262.0 million), Negeri Sembilan (-RM217.7 million), Sarawak (-RM180.3 million), and Kelantan (-RM20.1 million),” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Uzir said imports in November 2024 increased by RM1.8 billion (1.6 per cent) valued at RM111.3 billion, compared to the same month in 2023.
The increase in imports was attributed to higher imports in most states, including Pulau Pinang (+RM5.4 billion), Johor (+RM499.2 million), Labuan (+RM232.1 million), Kedah (+RM158.3 million), Kelantan (+RM57.4 million), Perlis (+RM53.6 million), and Terengganu (+RM52.4 million).
He noted that imports decreased in Negeri Sembilan by RM1.3 billion, Kuala Lumpur (-RM1.1 billion), Melaka (-RM746.4 million), Pahang (-RM706.6 million), Sarawak (-RM625.8 million), Perak (-RM354.1 million), Selangor (-RM316.2 million), and Sabah (-RM232.3 million).
Selangor dominates Malaysia’s imports with a share of 25.8 per cent, followed by Pulau Pinang (24.7 per cent), Johor (20.5 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (8.3 per cent) and Kedah (5.7 per cent), he added.
