Maxis, Ambank Deepen Collaboration To Accelerate Digital Transformation In Healthcare

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Maxis has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AmBank Group (Ambank), to accelerate digital transformation in Malaysia’s healthcare sector.

According to Maxis and Ambank's joint statement, the collaboration was formalised through a partnership announcement, held at the Malaysia International Healthcare (MIH) Megatrends 2024 conference recently, in which Maxis was represented by its chief executive officer (CEO) Goh Seow Eng while AmBank Group was represented by Group CEO Jamie Ling.

Also present were Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil; Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa; and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.

“The collaboration would drive the adoption of cutting-edge solutions, powered by connectivity across the healthcare ecosystem, combining Maxis’ extensive digital capabilities with AmBank’s comprehensive financial solutions,” the statement said.

It also said that this collaboration seeks to enhance service delivery and accessibility to medical services and infrastructure across the healthcare ecosystem, by enabling the adoption of connectivity and digital solutions.

“AmBank will work closely with Maxis to make financing more accessible to healthcare solutions,” it added.

It added that the collaboration would also explore the potential deployment of next-generation healthcare solutions to support critical needs in service delivery and experience.

These may include innovative applications, such as remote consultation capabilities, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) solutions, and autonomous medical supply delivery.

AmBank and Maxis share an ongoing commitment to drive digital innovation among businesses, it said.

Previously, both parties have worked together to catalyse retail transformation and help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) attain sustenance through digitalisation.

Meanwhile, Goh, in the same statement, said that Maxis and AmBank were looking forward to accelerating digital adoption in Malaysia’s healthcare sector, to benefit providers and their patients.

“This builds upon our ongoing initiatives to promote future-ready digital solutions for businesses, enabled by 5G and 5G-Advanced connectivity, including Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

“Through this collaboration, we will be able to leverage the best of technology to advance Smart Healthcare for the nation, in line with our aim of connecting people and businesses to a world of possibilities,” he said.

Ling, also in the same statement, noted that the leading financial services group’s partnership with Maxis continued, with another collaboration in the healthcare sector.

“By combining AmBank’s expertise in financial solutions with Maxis’ advanced digital expertise, we aim to contribute to improving healthcare accessibility, working with partners who will bring new and enhanced healthcare solutions to the industry,” he said.
