SEPANG, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- “See you in jail.” That was one of the chilling messages reportedly received by participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) from Israeli forces who intercepted the convoy’s radio system before all communication was cut off with the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysian actress and activist Nurul Hidayah Mohd Amin, better known as Ardell Aryana, managed to post an Instagram story before losing contact, revealing that Israeli security forces had begun blocking internet access and jamming communication signals as her vessel, Mikeno, entered Red Zone R3 around 9 pm Gaza time.
“I’m trying to hide my phone. Israeli forces are cutting all our internet lines...we’re trying to plug in offline. I’m just waiting for a chance to go live again. Pray for us and our friends,” she said.
As of 4.30 am Malaysian time, SNCC confirmed that three GSF ships - Alma, Sirius, and Adara - had been boarded by Israeli naval forces.
In total, eight high-alert emergency signals were activated during the incident. At press time, the whereabouts and condition of those detained aboard the three vessels remain unknown.
Alma is carrying Malaysian humanitarian activists Musa Nuwayri, Iylia Balqis, and Sul Aidil, while Sirius hosts Haikal Abdullah, Muaz Zainal, Zulfadhli, and Rusydi.
A total of 23 participants of the GSF humanitarian convoy to Gaza are Malaysians.
Despite the blockade and imminent threat, Ardell reaffirmed the convoy's commitment to its mission to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
“We’re not done exposing their actions! O Allah, please protect all the civilians who are with us delivering this humanitarian aid to Gaza. Even though we are surrounded, we believe Allah is with us!” she said.
Meanwhile, SNCC also uploaded pre-recorded videos of seven Malaysians who were confirmed to have been unlawfully detained by Israeli forces, namely Haikal, Muaz, Zulfadhli, and Rusydi (aboard Sirius), along with Iylia, Musa Nuwayri, and Sul Aidil (aboard Alma), on its official TikTok page.
