PUTRAJAYA, July 24 (Bernama) -- Kosovo’s Deputy Foreign and Diaspora Minister, Kreshnik Ahmeti, is undertaking a two-day working visit to Malaysia beginning Thursday, aimed at deepening bilateral ties and exploring new areas of cooperation.
In a statement on Thursday, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry said the visit is a follow-up to the official visit by Kosovo’s President, Dr Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, to Malaysia in early May this year.
Ahmeti is scheduled to meet with Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, who will also host a luncheon in his honour.
“Both sides are expected to hold discussions on trade and investment, Islamic finance, the halal industry, and tourism,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The two deputy ministers will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, it said.
During the visit, Ahmeti is also expected to hold discussions with the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) to explore potential collaborations in the halal sector.
In 2024, total bilateral trade between Malaysia and Kosovo reached RM28.55 million (US$6.26 million), comprising RM25.92 million (US$5.69 million) in Malaysian exports and RM2.63 million (US$580,000) in imports from Kosovo.
Key Malaysian exports include palm oil, electrical and electronic products, and manufactured goods, while imports from Kosovo mainly comprise raw materials and semi-precious stones.
