ISTANBUL, June 25 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with United States (US) President Donald Trump on Tuesday on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in The Hague, where both leaders discussed regional and global developments as well as bilateral relations, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

According to a statement issued by Turkiye's Communications Directorate, Erdogan welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, reportedly achieved through Trump’s efforts, and called for lasting peace, an end to the Gaza crisis, and continued dialogue on Ukraine.

The Turkish president also highlighted the strong potential for enhanced cooperation with the US, particularly in the areas of energy, investment, and defence, adding that strengthening ties could help realise the US$100 billion bilateral trade target.

Both leaders also emphasised the importance of reinforcing NATO’s deterrence capabilities as key allies within the Alliance.
