INDONESIA SENDS US$1.88 MLN AID TO PALESTINE AND SUDAN

JAKARTA, April 3 (Bernama) -- Indonesia on Wednesday dispatched humanitarian aid worth 30 billion rupiah (US$1.88 million) to Palestine and Sudan.

President Joko Widodo in his speech at a ceremony held at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta highlighted that the aid, comprising medicines and medical equipment, is tailored to meet local needs and in accordance with official requests from Egypt and Sudan.

He also expressed concern for the crises in Gaza and Sudan, and hoped that the contribution, overseen by Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), would alleviate suffering in both regions.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi who was also present at the event stated that two commercial aircraft carrying the aid are set to arrive at Port Sudan and Cairo on April 4.

She also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to aiding victims of conflict and disasters.
