07/04/2021 03:25 PM

TEHRAN, April 7 -- Iran is ready to expand comprehensive bilateral relations and enhance full-scale cooperation with Malaysia in a broad sphere of sectors, said the republic’s Deputy Foreign Minister for economic diplomacy Rasoul Mohajer.

Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday reported that Mohajer said this after meeting with Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaafar during the latter’s one-day working visit to the republic on Tuesday.

Referring to the long and historical record of bilateral relations, Mohajer announced Iran's readiness for comprehensive expansion of relations and full-scale cooperation with Malaysia.

He also asked the Malaysian government to look into facilitating the commercial and business interactions between the two countries’ private and public sectors.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister, meanwhile, referred to the presence of successful Iranian merchants, educated individuals, and even elites in Malaysia.

However, he stressed the need for resolving the problems they face in Malaysia, including in banking and financial affairs, as well consular problems, judiciary problems, and exchange of criminals.

According to IRNA, Kamarudin had expressed his delight for having the chance to visit Iran, and said that the main objective of his trip is expansion of bilateral ties.

He hoped that after containing the COVID-19 pandemic, both sides will witness comprehensive expansion of bilateral ties especially in commercial and economic field.

Prior to visiting Iran, Kamarudin had also visited Turkey and Qatar.
