BANGKOK, Oct 18 -- Thailand has reported additional three local transmissions of COVID-19 in the country’s northern province, bordering Myanmar, today.

The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA)  said the new patients were family members of a Myanmar couple living in Mae Sot District in Tak Province who tested positive this week.

The new patients are Myanmar nationals - a 23-year-old woman and her one-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter who live in Mae Sot. They are close contacts of the couple.

“The patients are receiving treatment at Mae Sot Hospital in Tak Province,” the CCSA said in a statement today.

The Public Health Ministry has stepped up contact tracing of the couple.

Over the last 24 hours, Thailand has recorded seven new COVID-19 cases including three local transmissions and four imported cases.

To date, Thailand has recorded 3,686 cases with 59 fatalities.

Yesterday, Thailand reported its first local transmission of COVID-19 in more than a month.
