PORT DICKSON, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Pro Cycling's Muhammad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil powered his way to become the best ASEAN rider in Stage Six of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), despite feeling under the weather.
Muhammad Izzat Hilmi, who hails from Batu Pahat, Johor, missed out on a podium finish when he ended up fourth overall in two hours, 32 minutes and 55 seconds, and was quick to credit his teammates for helping him to such an impressive performance.
"Although I was not feeling well, I still gave it my everything. My target today was to be among the top five (overall) and, Alhamdulillah, I went one better.
"Thanks also to my teammates who helped me from the start till the end,” he said.
This is the second time that Muhammad Izzat Hilmi has emerged as the best ASEAN rider, having achieved it in Stage Four (Kuala Terengganu-Kemaman) on Wednesday (Oct 1).
The 30-year-old now hopes to continue in the same vein in the remaining two stages.
"Two more stages left. If the races end in another mass finish like today, I will try harder to get on the podium,” he said.
