KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) – Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has congratulated national men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun for clinching the Malaysia Masters 2025 title today, marking Malaysia’s first home victory in the category after 12 years.
The pair triumphed in a thrilling three-game final at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil overcoming compatriots and 2022 world champions Aaron Chia–Soh Wooi Yik with a score of 21-12, 15-21, 21-16.
Hannah noted that this was the pair’s second title of the year, having previously won the Indonesia Masters 2025 in January.
“Well done to Aaron Chia–Soh Wooi Yik also for reaching their second final in a week (after becoming Thailand Open winners),” she said in a Facebook post.
With this win, Wei Chong–Kai Wun have become the first Malaysian men’s doubles champions at the Malaysia Masters since Goh V Shem–Lim Khim Wah in 2013.
Also present during the Malaysia Masters finals today were Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who is also Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, and Malaysian badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
