KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) - Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) can breathe a sigh of relief after getting a National License to play in the Super League 2024/2025 scheduled to start next month.
This follows the Malaysian Football League (MFL) through the independent body First Instance Body (FIB) today confirming that KDA FC has completed the payment of player and official salary arrears for the year 2023 before the April 20 deadline.
FIB chairman Sheikh Mohd Nasir Sheikh Mohd Sharif said based on a letter dated April 18 and payment documents submitted to MFL reviewed by FIB, KDA FC has settled all salary arrears of players and officials of the Super League squad.
He said KDA FC has also settled all salary arrears for players and officials of the junior teams namely the Under-23, Under-20 and Under-18 squads.
"However, there are two players, namely Lee Tuck and Jonathan Boareto dos Reis, who have not yet received payment due to the case still being heard by the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the National Dispute Resolution Chamber (NDRC).
"However, all outstanding payments as directed by FIB have been settled by KDA FC to enable KDA FC to obtain a National License to play in the Super League for the 2024/2025 season," he said in a statement today.
He said at the same time, FIB maintained the penalty of three points against Sang Kenari in the 2024/2025 Super League competition and a fine of RM 50,000 for failing to make full payment of salary arrears for the year 2023 on the previous deadline which was March 30.
Earlier, FIB gave an extension of time for KDA FC to resolve the issue of salary arrears for players and officials until April 20.
Last Thursday, acting chief executive officer of KDA FC Shahrul Samsudin said the club had successfully settled the entire salary arrears for the year 2023 thus enabling the team to remain competitive in the Super League.
