KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 47 women players have been called up by national women’s football head coach Soleen Al-Zoubi to attend the four-day Malayan Tigress try-out and team selection that began today at Wisma Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Kelana Jaya.

FAM announced the session on a Facebook post today, stating that it was part of the squad’s early preparations for the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia this May.

The five players who played in the Under-20 (U20) Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers in Phnom Penh recently, S. Thivashini, Kanchenjeet Kaur, Lauren Hoh Ruyi, Nur Amirah Abdul Rahman and Nur Najwa Irdina Zaidi, were also called up.

“Also, the players were chosen based on Soleen’s observations at the FAM Regional Women's Football Festival and Selangor Women’s Super League.

“The players will have to undergo various fitness tests, including speed, strength and power tests, as well as intensive training on the field throughout the selection session,” the post read.

FAM decided against sending a national women’s football team to the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi, Veitnam last year due to their performance in the previous two editions.
