KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) - National track cyclist Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis won the silver medal in the men's one-kilometre (km) time trial at the Asian Track Cycling Championships in New Delhi, India, today.
The race which took place at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex Velodrome saw Muhammad Fadhil record a time of 1 minute 01.639 second (s).
Yuta Obara of Japan won the event with a time of 1:01.118s while the host country’s Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam grabbed the bronze after clocking 1:01.798s.
Meanwhile, Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri, who won the 500m time trial event at the championships failed to keep up the momentum as she was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the women's individual sprint event.
Nurul Izzah lost 1-2 to Park Ji Hae of South Korea while another national representative, Anis Amira Rosidi also lost with the same result to South Korean Cho Sunyoung.
The junior category saw Zulfahmi Aiman Zulkarnain also bring home silver in the men's scratch race.
Kim Hwarang of South Korea won the gold while Indian rider Birjit Yumnam finished third.
