JOHOR BAHRU, May 21 (Bernama) -- The Johor state government has urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take immediate and firm action against those behind a fake TikTok account accused of insulting and tarnishing the image of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the act of using His Majesty’s name and manipulating the King’s image through artificial intelligence (AI) technology, as well as uploading false allegations portraying degrading imagery, was uncivilised and constituted a serious insult.
He said the act not only tarnished the reputation of His Majesty as Head of State and a Malay Muslim Ruler, but also touched on the sensitivities of Muslims and undermined the values and respect Malaysians uphold towards the Malay Rulers institution.
“The Johor government will never compromise with any party that insults His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
“Freedom of speech cannot be used as an excuse to spread slander, hatred and insults against the royal institution,” he said in a Facebook post.
Onn Hafiz said the state government strongly condemned the irresponsible act and called on the public, especially Bangsa Johor, not to spread false content and to immediately report to the authorities any posts deemed insulting to the royal institution.
“May Allah SWT continue to protect His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and preserve the royal institution from all slander and malicious intent,” he said.
