Reconstruction Of SK Batu Putih Baru In Sandakan To Be Completed In 2029 - Ahmad Maslan

SANDAKAN, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- The reconstruction of the dilapidated Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Batu Putih Baru is expected to be fully completed by April 2029 under a two-phase partial completion plan, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said.

He said the project, worth about RM43.89 million, was proceeding according to schedule, with current progress at 1.5 per cent, and Phase One, involving the design and construction of a new building as well as the demolition of the existing structure, was expected to be completed in 2028.

“Phase Two, which involves upgrading three existing blocks, (will) begin in September 2028 and (is expected) to be completed in April 2029,” he told a press conference after inspecting the progress of the SK Batu Putih Baru reconstruction project here today.

Ahmad said the project involves rebuilding the administration building, an academic block with 18 classrooms, the pre-school, and the canteen.

He said that under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), the government had allocated RM4.54 billion to implement 200 projects to reconstruct dilapidated schools in Sabah.

Ahmad said that of the total, 99 projects had been completed, 68 were under construction, and 33 more were at the pre-construction stage.

He said the ministry would ensure that infrastructure projects, including educational institutions in the state, were completed on schedule, complied with quality standards, and maintained a zero-accident record at construction sites.
