KUANTAN, July 19 (Bernama) -- The Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM) 2025 in Pahang has recorded RM25 million in sales over six months since it began in January.
According to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Pahang branch director Jezlily Jamaluddin, the figure was achieved through 744 events held across the state, attracting over 713,000 visitors.
“This year, we aim to organise 1,008 PJRM sessions offering essential food and non-food items at prices 10 to 30 per cent lower than the local market.
“Rural communities are also benefiting, with the programme being held at each of the state’s 42 constituencies at least twice a month,” she told Bernama.
The PJRM schedule is available on the Pahang KPDN Facebook page and the ministry’s website at https://www.kpdn.gov.my/ms/jualan-rahmah.
Launched on Jan 11, 2023, PJRM is a year-round initiative focused on low-income areas to boost local retail activity and ease the cost of living.
Discounted items include chicken, fish, eggs, sugar, bottled cooking oil, flour, rice, personal care goods, and household cleaning products.
Meanwhile, Jezlily said 1,343 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, worth nearly RM40,000, were seized under Ops Gasak, which began in Pahang on May 1.
The seizures followed eight raids based on public complaints, intelligence, and routine inspections—four in Kuantan, two in Raub, and one each in Temerloh and Rompin.
“Since the operation, there’s been a shift in LPG usage among hotels, factories and fast-food chains toward unsubsidised supplies. Only small eateries, stalls, and laundromats are still allowed to use subsidised LPG,” she said.
Jezlily said several meetings were held with LPG suppliers, distributors, and wholesalers before the operation began.
“We’ve also maintained a firm but considerate enforcement approach during inspections, supported by awareness talks for both consumers and traders,” she added.
