IPOH, Nov 24 -- A total of 94 flood victims from 27 families in Chikus, about 80 kilometres from here, were evacuated to the Teluk Intan Municipal Council (MPTI) relief centre here this afternoon.
A spokesman for the state Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) said the victims were evacuated from Kampung Sungai Rambai, Kunci Air 12 Headwork, Kampung Tanjung Keramat, Sungai Kucing and Sungai Seluang.
They were evacuated to the relief centre which was opened at 3 pm after floods hit the areas around noon today, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) spokesman said the affected areas were inundated by 0.9 metre-deep floodwaters.
“Monitoring operations are being carried out at the affected areas from time to time," the spokesman said.
