GEORGE TOWN, July 30 – The Penang government launched the 'Penang Responsible Tourism' campaign today to get tourists to respect the COVID-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) which has been put in place to protect them and others.

State Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman, Yeoh Soon Hin, said: "With more and more tourists coming to Penang, we need to remind them of their responsibilities like practising social distancing, sanitising hands and wearing a mask so that they can have fun while being safe."

At the same event which was officiated by Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow, COVID-19 Safety Accreditation certificates were given to 10 hotels and a shopping mall for their adherence to stringent hygiene and safety standards that ensure the health and safety of the public.
