JOHOR BAHRU, May 21  -- The state government will be giving out a one-off incentive of RM1,000 each to the 936 licensed tour guides in the state affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Announcing the news, Johor Tourism, Youths and Sports Committee chairman, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said it is one of the incentives declared under the Johor Ihsan Economic Stimulus Package to lighten the burden of those involved in the tourism industry.

He said other incentives include an exemption on business licence payments to companies involved in tourism and the hotel industry and on entertainment tax for theme parks and family entertainment centres for the year.

“The payment exemption for tour companies and hotels involves an amount estimated at RM894,211 that will benefit 1,031 business licence holders meanwhile the exemption on entertainment tax for theme parks and family entertainment centres involve an amount of RM3 million,” he said in a statement here, today.

“It is hoped that all these incentives would help the tourism industry players and that it would be able to regenerate the achievements of the tourism and services sectors in Johor,” he said.
