The appointment is to replace the former PPj president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud, who has been appointed as the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, also effective tomorrow.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said in a statement today that Mohd Sakeri's appointment took into account his extensive experience in the civil service as well as his expertise in development and strategic policy.

He said Mohd Sakeri has an excellent service record in various development portfolios at the national level, in addition to demonstrating strong strategic leadership.

"With an excellent track record in management and development, he is believed to be capable of leading PPj to a higher level of excellence," he said.

Shamsul Azri said the appointment is expected to further strengthen efforts to make Putrajaya a smart, green and livable city, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.

Mohd Sakeri, 56, previously served as the Works Ministry deputy secretary-general (Policy and Development).
