SARAWAK DOES NOT TAKE RIGHTS OF OTHERS - ABANG JOHARI

06/06/2024 12:12 AM

BETONG, June 5 (Bernama) – The Sarawak government will not take the rights of other people in its efforts to develop the state, said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said although certain quarters were already questioning the Sarawak government's action in enforcing laws on streamlining gas distribution in the state, the move was undertaken after it had been approved by the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.

“We are not taking the rights of Petronas (as a Federal representative) but only taking back our rights as agreed to in the Malaysia Agreement 1963. We know our rights and it will be sinful to take the rights of others,” he said at a Gawai Ngabang (visit) ceremony here today.

According to him, some people claim that Sarawak is just lucky to have advanced compared to other regions in Malaysia, but the truth is that it is due to the efforts of its leadership, which aims to keep the people united to ensure its continued success.
