KUCHING, March 4 (Bernama) -- The outstanding performance of the Sarawak camp in the 2023 Sarawak Premier International Silat Championship (SPISC) which entered its fourth day today has caught the attention of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Rumpun Silat Sarawak (RSS) in a statement today said Fadillah during his observations this morning expressed his pride in the performance and sportsmanship of the Sarawak exponents.
According to the statement, Fadillah also said that the state government's efforts through RSS to organise international level events such as SPISC indirectly promotes Sarawak to the world and boosts the development of silat among the younger generation.
It said most of the state’s representatives, whether in the senior or junior categories, managed to secure a place in the finals scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Among them are Nor Azeman Pie'e for the Putra B junior event, Nur Hazeerah Syafiqah Suffian (Putri B senior) and Mohd Ashraf Amirul Razaman (Putra D senior).
The fourth day of championship sees most of the finals events taking place in the evening, and based on the schedule, the Sarawak contingent has confirmed gold and silver medal wins in the senior Putra Doubles event.
Held at the Perpaduan Stadium, the SPISC 2023 offers a cash prize of US$20,000 (RM87,510) for the overall champions in addition to the introduction of the championship belt.
