KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13  -- Twenty-six teams have confirmed their entries in the 2021 Tun Abdul Razak Cup hockey tournament scheduled for Nov 10-20 at Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium here.

Of that total, 14 teams will vie in the men’s category while 12 teams compete in the women’s category according to the final lists of teams submitted when deadline closed on Monday.

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) Competitions Committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Anil Jeet Singh said the competition format will be discussed, as well as the vote for groupings in the 2021 Malaysian Junior Hockey League (MJHL) at this week’s committee meeting.

“Looking at the list of team entries, all states will be participating except Johor who are not sending teams for the men’s nor women’s categories. Other states are sending a men’s team and some are playing in the women’s category only,” he said at a press conference here today.

Anil Jeet Singh said he has not received any information regarding Johor on not sending any team entries to the tournament.

The men’s field in the 2021 Tun Abdul Razak Cup comprises Malaysian Armed Forces, Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Penang, Perak, Perlis, Sabah, Selangor and Terengganu.

Teams for the women’s tourney are Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, PDRM, Penang, Perak, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor and Terengganu.

Perak were men’s champion while Pahang won the women’s title in the 2020 Tun Abdul Razak Cup.
