Ni Hsin's F&B unit inks deal with KTP to expand Blackbixon coffee market

07/04/2021 03:05 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 -- Ni Hsin Resources Bhd’s food and beverage (F&B) unit Blackbixon Sdn Bhd has signed a brand partnership agreement with Koperasi Tenaga dan Petroliam Bhd (KTP) to grow the market for its ‘Blackbixon’ coffee.

The energy coffee drink will be retailed at various onshore and offshore oil and gas locations owned by members of KTP.

BlackBixon managing director Khoo Chee Kong said the partnership agreement meant KTP members would have another source of income through their participation in the BlackBixon business.

“BlackBixon’s business model fits in nicely, promoting small scale business which the members of KTP can participate.

“As BlackBixon’s brand partner, KTP offers an extensive networking and marketplace, primarily among the oil & gas and energy sectors. KTP also has an online business platform called edagang,” he said during the signing ceromony here today.

He said BlackBixon is optimistic that the growing online business platform would further enhance the visibility of and offer business opportunities.

“We view this brand partnership agreement between KTP and BlackBixon as synergistic for both parties,” he added.

KTP is a cooperative for entrepreneurs in the oil and gas industry, established by professionals from the energy sector in 2019. One of its missions is to enhance the economic and social well-being of members through investment and entrepreneurial activities.

BlackBixon represents the first venture by Ni Hsin into the F&B industry, with other plans in the pipeline to grow the business regionally such as China, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore, given the heightened interest in energy drinks combined with the coffee-drinking culture of today.

BlackBixon recently appointed Red One Network Sdn Bhd, a mobile virtual network operator to market and retail the coffee to its 1.2 million subscribers.

Subsequently, Ni Hsin also filed for a patent for BlackBixon’s invention to protect the company’s rights and to secure competitive advantage for its F&B business in selling products.

Meanwhile, KTP chairman Sofiyan Yahya said the cooperative has wide potential to promote BlackBixon and will expand it widely to more than its 60 members.

“Basically we are not only targeting the cooperative members but also targeting outside people from various sectors, the manufacturers and service providers as we want them to be an entrepreneur,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony was Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation president and chief executive officer Yazid Jaafar.
