GUA MUSANG, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- The Public Works Department (JKR) today announced the closure of Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing at Kilometre 78 beginning today until further notice after detecting a sinkhole on Sept 12.
In a statement today, JKR advised motorists to take the alternative route from Gua Musang to Sungai Koyan, Pahang, via Ringlet, Tapah, and Ipoh, Perak.
Yesterday, Kelantan JKR director Nik Soh Yaacoub said the sinkhole, about 0.1 metres deep and 15 metres long, appeared near Kampung Jekjok, Pos Brooke.
The sinkhole is believed to have been caused by underground water flow and nearby drainage, compounded by continuous heavy rainfall that heightened the risk of ground subsidence.
JKR is closely monitoring the area and has implemented a traffic management plan to ensure the safety of road users.
