SEPANG, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organisation (Mapim) and 12 agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department will send RM2.3 million in aid to victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi.
These include the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), the Federal Territories Islamic Department (JAWI) the Tabung Haji Board, Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia and the Federal Territory Mufti Office.
Head of the MAPIM Central Sulawesi Emergency Aid Mission Dr Ahmad Sani Araby Al-Kahery said this was the third time aid was being sent and was the biggest mission by MAPIM since the earthquake and tsunami hit in Palu on Sept 28.
“This third and last mission will be conducted over a week, ending on next Wednesday, and involving 42 members, including the media.
“The mission will also include Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religion) Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa who will launch the Ummah Village this Saturday,” he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), here today.
