Drastic increase in vaccination registration via MySejahtera in Labuan

LABUAN, June 17  -- The number of Labuan residents registered for the vaccination exercise through MySejahtera application has increased drastically since yesterday (June 16).

The sudden increase from 66.11 per cent yesterday to 73.2 per cent today was following news of Labuan's walk-in vaccination exercise (beginning tomorrow), the opening up of five more vaccination centres and the delivery of 30,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

On June 1, the number of registration for the COVID-19 vaccine stood at 40.8 per cent.

Labuan COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force chairman Rithuan Ismail said the local folks were beginning to realise the high risk of not getting vaccinated with the daily new death cases in the island.

“We are grateful to note the sudden surge in MySejahtera for the vaccination, we hope the momentum will continue to rise to 80 per cent or beyond that, as we want to see people in this federal territory vaccinated against the virus.

“The registration in MySejahtera by Labuan folks was very slow last month, whereas Putrajaya has achieved 100 per cent,” he told Bernama.

Rithuan said the walk-in vaccination process at the newly-opened vaccination centre (PPV) at the Labuan Matriculation College’s (LMC) Dewan Mutiara would help expedite the Labuan’s COVID-19 immunisation programme.

He said the daily inoculation capacity of the two existing vaccination centres at the Public Works Department and Kompleks Darul Kifayah halls currently stood at 1,100 and this would be increased to 5,000 inoculations daily when all five new vaccination centres start operating.

The four other new vaccination centres are the Taman Mutiara Health Clinic with a capacity of 300 people per day and it would start operating next Monday (June 21), while the dates of operation of Dewan Utama of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) - Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), the Fire and Rescue Department (Rancha-Rancha station) hall and Labuan rural health clinic would be decided soon.

Meanwhile, Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari said the drive-thru vaccination would also be implemented at the Medan Selera Labuan and Labuan International Lawn Bowls Arena, and this drive-thru method is only for second dose vaccine.

Labuan is seeing a downward trend in the number of individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 past two days with 97 new cases recorded today.
