The four deaths involved two Thai men aged 78 years old and 30 years old, a 78-year-old Thai woman, and an 86-year-old Indian woman.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said all COVID-19 patients in the kingdom should be admitted and treated at hospitals to reduce transmission.

He assured that there were enough hospitals beds for COVID-19 patients despite the rising number of cases.

“Patients do not have to go into self-isolation or try to treat themselves as there are plenty of beds available at hospitals and field hospitals.

“All patients can be treated and medical staff can monitor their symptoms,” he was quoted as saying by The Nation.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the green light to three private firms to import and register for COVID-19 vaccines.

The secretary-general of FDA, Dr Paisan Dankhum said a total of 14 companies had applied to import COVID-19 vaccines.

“The FDA has been carefully considering all candidates with a focus on public safety and health,” he said as quoted by The Nation.

To date, Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) is the sole importer of COVID-19 vaccines.
