COVID: Two M'sians among 44 imported cases in Singapore on Monday

SINGAPORE, Jan 26  -- Two Malaysians are among the 44 new COVID-19 imported cases reported in Singapore on Monday, according to the republic’s Ministry of Health.

Both work permit holders arrived from Malaysia, said the ministry in its full data released late last night.

The first case which is labelled as 59644 is a 26-year-old man and he is asymptomatic while the second case labelled as 59645 is a 33-year-old female who is symptomatic.

As at noon Monday, Singapore recorded a total of 44 new imported cases of which 40 were asymptomatic while four were symptomatic.

A 60-year-old male Singapore permanent resident who returned from Malaysia is also among the asymptomatic imported cases here.

He is linked to Case 59532 which was reported on Jan 22, a 61-year-old Singaporean man who also returned from Malaysia.

Other imported cases were from Bangladesh, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Spain, the Netherlands, the UAE, the UK, and the US.

The republic reported no locally transmitted COVID-19 infections Monday, thus, bringing the total number of infections here to 59,352.

The ministry said that all the 44 imported cases had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

No new cluster was reported on Monday, thus, the total clusters remained at six.
