KUCHING, Jan 13 -- Sarawak reported three-digit new COVID-19 cases for the third consecutive day, when it recorded 166 cases, the highest daily total for state.
The new cases bring the overall total COVID-19 cases in the state to 1,740 with Sibu recording a new high with 94 cases, followed by Miri (48 cases), Kuching (15 cases), Beluru (four cases), Bintulu (three cases), while Belaga and Samarahan had one case each.
Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in its daily report, said 88 of the new cases were reported in Sibu involving the Pasai Cluster while in Miri, seven of the new cases involved individuals returning from COVID-19 infection risk areas.
For Kuching, 10 of the new cases were from individuals returning from COVID-19 infection risk spots.
There are seven active clusters in Sarawak comprising clusters at Bukit Sekubong (Sebauh), Jelita (Miri), Pasai (Sibu), Keranji Tabuan (Kuching), Bah Sayap (Miri), Stutong (Kuching) and Mador (Meradong).
