Indonesia records 5,534 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday

JAKARTA, Nov 25 --  Indonesia recorded 5,534 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours up to noon Wednesday, the highest since the first case was detected on March 2 in the republic.

The National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) on its twitter account @BNPB_Indonesia said  the number of positive cases so far has risen to 511,836 while number of recoveries was 429,807 and 65,438 people were under monitoring.

A total of 114 deaths were also reported over the past 24 hours up to noon Wednesday, raising the tally to 16,225.

The province of Jakarta recorded the highest number of positive cases at 130,461, following increase of 1,273 new cases, while East Java recorded the highest number of deaths at 4,249.
