07/11/2020 08:54 PM

BANGKOK, Nov 7 -- Thailand today recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases, including one local transmission, to take the total number of cases to 3,830, while the death toll remained at 60 after no fatalities were reported.

The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said in a statement that a 37-year-old Indian man, who works at a restaurant in Krabi, tested positive during a health test for his work permit.

“Public health officers are investigating the source of infection and stepping up contact tracing,” it said.

The Bangkok Post reported that 19 people were in contact with him, including 11 at a private hospital and eight at his house in Koh Phi Phi. They all tested negative.

Meanwhile, the CCSA said that of the 11 other new cases, two were truck drivers of Myanmar origin - a man aged 29 and a woman aged 45.

“They were sent back to Myanmar for treatment,” it said.

The CCSA said the remaining nine cases reported included two each from France and the United States and one each from the United Arab Emirates, India, Mexico, Switzerland and the Netherlands. All tested positive while undergoing compulsory quarantine.
