GEORGE TOWN, July 26 -- The annual Jamboree On The Air - Jamboree On The Internet (JOTA-JOTI) event would proceed in Penang despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Penang Scouts Chief Commissioner Zulkafli Kamaruddin today said that the programme will be held on the first week of October this year.
“For now, we have been planning to hold the event completely online.
“We will be focusing more on the JOTI part of the event this year,” he told reporters after an awards ceremony here.
Earlier today, Zulkafli, representing the Scouts Association of Malaysia (Penang), contributed RM10,000 to the Penang COVID-19 fund.
Also at the ceremony were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee.
The JOTA-JOTI programme is an international jamboree event which enables scouts and guides worldwide to contact and communicate with each other via amateur radio and the Internet.
A special edition of JOTI organised by World Scouting was held between April 3 and 5 this year, which aimed to bring education and entertainment to participants worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic.
