Spa, kindergarten operators all set to reopen tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 -- In view of the permission given by the government for spa, wellness and reflexology centres as well as kindergartens to resume operation from tomorrow (July 1), many business operators have been preparing themselves to function in a new normal setting.

They must comply with the strict standard operating procedures (SOP) that were set by the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

A check by Bernama found that they had taken the relevant measures prior to reopening their doors to customers and children tomorrow, after their businesses were halted due to the many stages of the Movement Control Order (MCO) from March 18.

Hannan Medispa Wangsa Maju branch manager Nurul Huda Kosnon said the announcement made by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the reopening of the sector was much awaited by spa operators.

“During the MCO, many customers especially women lamented at not being able to pamper themselves at beauty centres. Beauty to women does not only refer to the face but also the whole body as well.

“I have shared the good news with my regular customers, in fact I have also reminded them to adhere to the SOP set by the government,” she told Bernama here today.

The former journalist, who managed the spa with her husband since four four years ago, had already briefed their 10 local staff on the SOP and self cleanliness procedures before and after providing beauty and body slimming treatments to customers.

Owner of Terra Terra Spa in Cheras, Norzaliza Mohammad Noor said it was important for the operators and customers to comply with the SOP, besides practicing self-control, to prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.

“I have studied the SOP and will definitely adhere to it. For example, we are accepting appointments online to avoid congestion at the spa. I also advised the staff to take a bath each time after treating a customer,” she said.

Norzaliza said the government’s decision to allow the sector to reopen was the most valuable ‘gift’, as she and her four staff had lost their source of income for almost three months.

Meanwhile, Smart Reader Worldwide Sdn Bhd publicity manager Normala Nasir said that the safety aspects were the main foci of all their branches nationwide including conducting cleaning and sanitisation works.

“The first step is to ensure all teachers, assistants and students submit their health declaration forms for screening because we want to make sure no one is exposed to COVID-19, either from the red or yellow zone, two weeks before the school session begins,” she explained.

She added that all students must wear the face shield and face mask provided by Smart Reader, and the teachers on duty would be taking their temperature readings upon their arrivals and before they left.

They had positioned the tables and chairs in each class one-metre apart and would ensure all students practiced good hygiene such as washing hands or using hand sanitisers, Normala added.
