KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 -- Supermax Corporation Bhd (Supermax) has donated one million pieces of Nitrile powder-free medical gloves to the Malaysian government hospitals, police stations and the healthcare industry’s first responders in an effort to mitigate the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a statement today,  it said, the company is coordinating the logistics and distribution with the National Disaster Management Agency of Malaysia (NADMA) to ensure the gloves reach the first responders at the quickest possible time.

Supermax founder Datuk Seri Stanley Thai expressed the company’s appreciation to the front liners and wants to ensure that each and every front liners are protected as well as effectively reducing the risk of being infected themselves and their family by the deadly virus.

“The medical gloves should be for single use only and not to be sanitized nor reused to prevent risk of infection and we would like to encourage others to give full support to the government by participating in the sponsorship.

“They can make a minimum contribution of RM150 for a carton of medical gloves and save lives by contributing RM0.15 for each glove to be used by the front liners,” he said, adding that all collections received will be used to supply more medical gloves to the front liners.

This is in addition to the 1 million gloves Supermax has donated and to be distributed to the front liners through NADMA, he added.

Prior to this, Supermax has donated 3 million gloves to Wuhan and has helped other sponsors to deliver 8.9 million gloves to China during the height of the outbreak in China.
