KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- A magnitude 5.0 moderate earthquake was recorded in Mindanao, the Philippines, at 9.19 pm tonight, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the earthquake was centred at coordinates 9.2 degrees north and 126.7 degrees east, about 57km north-east of Gingoog City in the Philippines.
“The quake struck at a depth of 78 kilometres, with initial assessments finding no tsunami threat to Malaysia,” the statement said.
